How Overdraft works and how to opt-in

Overdraft helps you complete business payments even when your balance is low.

Where you can use Overdraft

Your overdraft is available when making payments to: 

• An M-PESA phone
• A Bank account
• Till

• Paybill

  

Overdraft is not available to a FREE M-PESA phone number

Use the other Send Money options - to another M-PESA phone, to your own account that is not marked as FREE, or to a Bank account, Till or Paybill.

How to Opt-in

You can opt in to Overdraft in via the following ways: 

• From the Overdraft menu on the web app
• From the Overdraft menu on the mobile app
• While making a payment

After you opt-in

Once you have opted in, your overdraft limit will kick in automatically whenever your balance is low.
